About this project
This security front door project in Cobham, Surrey, is a strong example of how simplicity, when executed with precision, can create a highly effective entrance. The brief was to deliver a bespoke single security door with side panels and a top light, designed to complement the architecture without overcomplicating the façade.
At the centre of the design is a three-panel configuration with double recessed milling, a detail that has become increasingly popular for its ability to add depth while maintaining a clean, structured appearance. The proportions work naturally with the property, allowing the entrance to feel balanced and well integrated.
The addition of side panels and a top light brings light into the interior while framing the door within a clear architectural composition. This approach enhances the presence of the entrance without relying on excessive detailing.
Ironmongery was selected to elevate the design subtly. A classic doctor door knocker sits above a large octagonal door knob, introducing contrast and character against the otherwise restrained form. These elements provide a focal point while reinforcing the bespoke nature of the door.
Beneath the minimal exterior, the door is fully engineered as a high-security entrance system, combining robust construction with modern locking to deliver strength and reliability.
